  17. i've been lurking on this subject for some time now and finally feel 
  18. compelled to toss in my 2 cents. for the past year or so i've been following
  19. the PC universe closely in order to expand my knowledge and bone up on a
  20. world i expect to enter soon.

  22. ever since NT came out i've been trying to get as much information as 
  23. possible on it, realizing that it is a clear leap ahead of WFWG 3.11. i,
  24. as most of u, expected to see all the new 32bit windows software perform
  25. much better under NT but to this day that has not been the case. every
  26. magazine review i have ever read that compared the same apps under NT 3.5
  27. and WFWG 3.11 was faster on WFWG 3.11. an app like photoshop 3.0 which is 
  28. fully 32 bit runs almost twice as slow on NT 3.5. similar things can be
  29. said of Elastic Reality and Caligari. i can't fathom the reason for this
  30. but it appears to be true. BTW, these tests were conducted on systems with
  31. 32 megs so NT's greater memory requirements did not skew the results.

  33. i am not saying that LW 4 will not run faster on NT, just that benchmarks
  34. mut be performed to determine that it does run faster. u cannot make
  35. the generalization that a 32 bit app will automatically run faster under
  36. the fully 32 bit NT than on the 16 bit Win 3.11. Go fig!
